Fundraising
Plans |
|
| |
We
will take a multi-pronged approach to fundraising. In order
to compete with many other worthy causes, it will be imperative
that we focus on building long-lasting relationships with
our donors. We can do this by enabling them to feel vested
in New Life Children Home, to know and see that their donations
are making a difference. We will try to make the donations
to be as specific as possible. A donor can i.e. buy a months
worth of vegetables, an outing to the zoo, or a year’s
worth of education. |

Volunteers
- The VSN volunteer program provides a good basis
for fundraising. Starting November 2007, 10% of the volunteering
fee will be allocated to the New Life Children Home. This
will result in a stable yearly income of $2500. In addition,
we will ask these volunteers for a yearly contribution.
These people that have worked in Nepal, and have seen the
orphanage may be more willing to spend some of their income
on the orphans. The NLCH is indebted to the Volunteer Society
Nepal which has already contributed US$3000.00 to NLCH |

Tourism
- Nepal is a beautiful country, frequented by many
tourists and we would like to offer them a view of the “real’
Nepal. We will contact tour organizations (i.e. Djoser,
Intrepid, Dutch) and suggest a small tour past our orphanages
and health clinics, maybe including lunch in a Nepali family
home. Tourists can, and in general, do donate some money
after seeing the conditions some of the orphans currently
live in. We will do this regularly but not too often since
the children are not a tourist attraction. |

Local
community - We
would like to involve the local community in supporting
the orphanage. For example a rice collection program could
reduce our annual costs by $ 950,-. Every family would
receive a can from us, in which, when they prepare a meal,
they put a handful of uncooked rice. The rice will then
be collected monthly. In other orphanages this has proved
to be successful and the only necessary source of rice.
Direct Mailings - New Life Children Home
will publish a quarterly digital newsletter that will
be e-mailed to our past supporters and to our past volunteers.
The mailing will provide an opportunity for past donors
to see their funds at work and give them an incentive
to continue donating. In addition, it is information easily
forwarded to potential new donors. Positive word of mouth
is spread easily
Personal Solicitations - Our greatest
fundraising strength to date is the productivity of our
personal relationships with generous donors. We will continue
to nurture those relationships through mailings, special
events and other forms of informal outreach.
Grant Writing - Our research has found
several foundations and other grant-making organizations
that have a strong interest in South Asia, and Nepal in
particular. We will explore the possibility for soliciting
funds from these groups.
